The cake that rocked my world

I've never been one to post many food items or recipes on the blog but today is a new beginning. After attending a party a few months ago I was introduced to the best tasting cake that will ever touch your lips. If my word isn't enough, the actually name of the cake is...better than sex cake. I swear, I am not lying, that is the real name! Now I am not going to make too many comments on the name of the cake because this is my business blog but I will say that while people were eating it there were a lot of comparable noises to doing the deed (lol) Being pregnant, of course, I was given the leftovers. I shared it with Kinsey, my mom, and sibilings. Not only were their noises again but everyone agreed it was the best cake they had ever had. I felt like it would be wrong to not share this delish with all of you...
Enjoy loves xo

Ingredients
  • 1 (18.25 ounce) package devil's food cake mix
  • 1/2 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 6 ounces caramel ice cream topping
  • 3 (1.4 ounce) bars chocolate covered toffee, chopped
  • 1 (8 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed

Directions

  1. Bake cake according to package directions for a 9x13 inch pan; cool on wire rack for 5 minutes. Make slits across the top of the cake, making sure not to go through to the bottom.
  2. In a saucepan over low heat, combine sweetened condensed milk and caramel topping, stirring until smooth and blended. Slowly pour the warm topping mixture over the top of the warm cake, letting it sink into the slits; then sprinkle the crushed chocolate toffee bars liberally across the entire cake while still warm. (Hint: I crush my candy bars into small chunks as opposed to crumbs - I like to have pieces I can chew on!)
  3. Let cake cool completely, then top with whipped topping. Decorate the top of the cake with some more chocolate toffee bar chunks and swirls of caramel topping. Refrigerate and serve right from the pan!

If you choose to indulge in this amazingness please let me know what you think and maybe bring me a piece?! : )

Cake Opera Co.

As a planner I am always on the computer and now with Pinterest it has been taken to a whole other level. As I was looking through inspiration I came across a cake, after doing a little research I found that the cake was done in Ontario by a shop called The Cake Opera Co. After a little more searching I came across these photos of their shop and cake. I could only think of one question to ask.....who wants to go to Canada with me? I will pass on any museums and go to a shop like this to look at these amazing pieces of art. The details, uniqueness, and displays are unreal!!

Their website is no less then unique as well http://www.cakeoperaco.com/

Enjoy the art my friends....

Summer Lovin'

I have been on a summer lovin' high the past few days with the gorgeous weather! After the rainy June we have had I'm appreciating it even more. The pool water was a little cold today and the baby made sure I knew he felt the same by kicking me like crazy. After some rays and exercise I was in the mood for something refreshing. The cure to my craving? Berry popsicles! These sweet treats are refreshing, easy, and a good way to get your fruits in for the day. With the fourth coming up next week I may be getting into the festive spirt and make some red (strawberry) and blue (blueberry) ones.

Hope you enjoy the recipe

Save the Date Treat

I have seen so many save the dates it's not even funny. Postcards, magnets, photos, calendars, key chains, candles, you name it. You can bet how excited I was when I saw these cookies because it was a first for me!! The S.T.D cookies are such a fun and yummy way to tell your guests about your upcoming nuptials. Let's just hope they write it down before they eat it : )

Mini Desserts on a stick

I have been so excited for this post. I love dessert and I do have a fun love for things that are little. Anything little always makes me say "look how cute!" even if it is a mini salt and pepper shaker or a Tabasco bottle smaller then a penny.

The owner of Bakerella took an introductory cake class and ever since has been doing pop cakes. shows you how to make all these wonderful treats. Great for weddings, birthday parties, any holiday, or something fun to do with the kids!

There is a small (very small) chance that I might try to create on of these sweet treats. If I do I will be sure to post my results for your entertainment.

Cookie Bar

I have a sweet tooth if you couldn't tell from my cupcake and now cookie posts. Cookies have been a favorite of mine since I was a kid. I do have to admit though, baking does not run in my family. My great-grandma use to buy store bought cookies and hide them in the microwave, which I quickly discovered.
I decided to overcome the family stereotype and try again this year and......no luck! They were so flat! Why does that happen? Oh well, I've accepted my lack of skill in the baking department and appreciate the work Pillsbury does for me.

Whether store bought, a roll, or homemade cookies are fantastic. Why not have them at your next party or wedding? They can be guest favors or served as a mid-night snack. There are so many cute ways to display your cookie bar so make it fun!!

Love this idea for favors.
All the ingredients are ready to go for your guests to make
individual cookies.

Coffee and Chocolate cupcakes YUM!

Three of my favorite C's combined into one; Chocolate, Coffee, and Cupcakes YUMMY! If you incorporating coffee bean favors or having a coffee bar why not add these cupcakes to add to your theme. I can promise I am not the only female who is obsessed with these great combos. I'm also not going to lie I think it's okay to eat these for breakfast too but this is coming from someone who sometimes has cookie dough and a diet at 9 a.m (yep i'm a health nut)

Wedding Trends 2011: Day 5

Wedding cakes have always been a big part of a wedding. Its fun to look back at wedding cake tables in the past. You know what I'm talking about, the 2 or 3 cakes that have plastic bridges connecting them and the bride and groom at the top (it makes me laugh). Now for 2011 the style will be....whatever your unique heart desires. People are branching out from traditional cakes and having multiple cakes, crazy flavors, cupcakes, homemade cakes, you name it it's happening and I love it!

I'm getting a craving for cake now, maybe this wasn't a good idea

I think i have used this photo in about 4 posts because I am that obsessed.
If you haven't looked at the video post on Ivy Robinson's inspiration piece for style me pretty,

Our couple Rosi and Bryan had a scrabble themed cake, a grooms cake,
and the every flavor cupcake you can imagine.

I couldn't help it, I had to add this. Let's just be thankful we have moved past this....

We're back to blogging!!

After taking a month off from the blog I am happy to say we are back!! It has been a busy last couple of weeks and I can't wait to share some pictures from our recent weddings.

Keeping with this past fourth of July weekend I wanted to do a post on s'mores. My girlfriends came over two weeks ago and we tried to make s'mores in our firepit in the backyard. Unfortunately we bought a chemical log, let's just say it did not look or smell editable. Plan B the microwave! They were still very yummy.

Leanne, one of our brides from this past weekend, wanted to do s'mores for her wedding. I thought it was such a cute, casual, and fun idea. Check back soon for some pictures of her amazing backyard wedding.

This post is making my sweet tooth kick in.
