SAG Awards

I love award season! I usually just watch the pre-show and watch the rest of the show on fast forward since they are 4 hours long sometimes. The dress selection for the SAG awards were sooooo much better then the golden globes. Here are some of my favs. Good news if you can't afford these designer gowns, the knock offs should be out within a few days.

Natalie Portman looked so cute with her baby bump in this white Azzaro gown.
The 2 million dollars in Tiffany jewels didn't hurt either.

Mila Kunis looked stunning in
Alexander McQueen.

Hilary Swank always looks classy.
Dress by Versace

Love Love Love this color for
Sofia Vergara in Cavalli

Lea Michele looks gorg in Oscar de la Renta

I usually don't like fading dresses but Julia Stiles
did it right in Ombre.

Mini Desserts on a stick

I have been so excited for this post. I love dessert and I do have a fun love for things that are little. Anything little always makes me say "look how cute!" even if it is a mini salt and pepper shaker or a Tabasco bottle smaller then a penny.

The owner of Bakerella took an introductory cake class and ever since has been doing pop cakes. shows you how to make all these wonderful treats. Great for weddings, birthday parties, any holiday, or something fun to do with the kids!

There is a small (very small) chance that I might try to create on of these sweet treats. If I do I will be sure to post my results for your entertainment.

I know the inspiration boards from Pantone color of the year has been all around the blog world. I wasn't going to do one but since I still have the itch a month later, I decided to cave. So I apologize in advance if you are on honeysuckle overload but if not then ENJOY the new pink!!

Wedding Coordinator vs Venue Coordinator

In almost every consultation my potential clients always ask how a wedding coordinator is different from the coordinator their venue provides. I want to clear up any misconceptions so that brides won't be disappointed or stressed as their day approaches.

Very simply put a wedding coordinator's client is you and your fiance; a venue coordinator's client is their manager (the venue). A venue coordinator is there to coordinate anything that relates to the venue; where as a wedding coordinator is there to coordinate anything that relates to your wedding.

I am trying not to sound bias but as a planner myself I know how important it is to have someone by your side from day one. Getting to know my couples on a personal level helps me incorporate their personalities and style into the design and feel of their wedding.

Speaking from experience. Venues tend to have a high turnover rate. My 2010 July bride had her venue coordinator change 3 times during the process. Since we had made changes to the menu and contract this made things a little hectic. I do not want to discount what a venue coordinator does because their job is very important, I am just here to tell you that we have two different roles.

Here is a very limited list to just show you a glimpse of what each will do

Venue Coordinator will:

  • Give you a tour of the space
  • Book your date
  • Answer questions/explain rules of the space such as "no candles" or "music off  by 11"
  • Create a floor plan
  • Set up tables and chairs
  • Organize a tasting, if there is an on-site catering company
  • Provide you a list of vendors they have partnerships with
  • Present during set up to ensure that all venue regulations are followed
  • Take care of any emergencies that are associated with the venue such as overflowing toilets
Day of Wedding Coordinator will:
  • Assemble a master timeline and ensure it is understood and followed by all vendors
  • Review contracts and identify any potential issues. Ensure vendors follow through with contractual obligations
  • Direct and assist guests through ceremony and reception
  • Organize and run your dress rehearsal
  • Create and Design your ceremony and reception
  • Line up and cue the bridal party and musicians/DJ for your processional
  • Attend to the needs of the bride and bridal party
  • Distribute bouquets and boutonnieres
  • Distribute final payments and tips to vendors
  • Set out personal items (guest book, escort cards etc)
  • Coordinate your grand entrance and exit
  • Ensure your photographer knows when all of your special moments will take place
  • Create a seamless wedding by being your liaison between your family, friends, and vendor
  • And most importantly, a day of wedding coordinator will take care of any last minute changes and emergencies that come up on a wedding day (ex., vendors not showing up, transportation issues between ceremony site and reception site, wedding crashers, late starts, missing bridal party members etc.)
***This list is very limited to what a coordinator does for you on your day but hopefully you get the picture

Kelly Green Inspiration Board

Ever since buying a house I have been on home decor blogs and sites about as much as I am wedding. It is so fun to look at all the different style homes and rooms. If I wasn't doing wedding and events I would want to be a interior designer. One house that I have loved for the past couple of years is the bachelor house haha. I am a big fan of the show but even bigger fan of the decor at the house. I am usually looking behind the contestants as they talk to look at the details. Today's inspiration comes from the kelly green wall on the show.

I could use a little less going on for the wall but obsessed with the color.

I might be breaking out the paint soon!!

Special Shoes Day Tuesday

During my search for this weeks SDT I came across La Plume Ethere on Etsy and immediately knew I wanted to do a feature. What girl doesn't like a bright, unique, and reasonable priced pump?! La Plume Ethere pumps range from $50-$65. If that wasn't enough LPE donates a portion of all sales to the American Cancer Society. Check LPE out at www.etsy.com/shop/LaPlumeEthere

Fort Lauderdale you did well

After a very long 2010 I have been ready to say goodbye and what better way to do it then having my toes in the sand and a drink in my hand. Setting goals for 2011 was a lot harder then setting goals for my vacation. #1 get a tan #2 eat a lot of good food #3 read #4 rest and relaxation #5 go to a piano bar #6 have fun. I am happy to report that I accomplished all 6 of my goals! yay me!

My favorite restaurant we ate at was Calabasas Cafe
 on New Years Eve.
It is an old castle set on the beach and the food was AH-MAZING.

I love to people watch but even better for me is house hunt.
The details and uniqueness of these homes were unreal

Leave it to me to find bridal stuff to take pictures of

Waking up to this view every morning made my heart happy

These cabanas became my bff very quickly

My second favorite restaurant was Oasis cafe. Every table was a swing!!
If a swing as a table wasn't enough to convince someone to stop here
they have yummy smoothies and good food too.

If your looking to get away and want a little help contact Kim at Travel Partners. She helped us with our honeymoon and now we can't thank her enough for picking this great location. Thanks Kim!!!
