"Just Married"

Ever wonder where the custom of decorating the getaway vehicle came from? It all goes back to those evil spirits. In the nineteenth century, couples in the American South and Midwest were commonly followed home on foot by their guests banging on pots and pans and making as much noise as possible in part to keep spirits away. As for the shoes, they dated back to the Tudors, when throwing a clomper at the couple was suppose to bring good luck- if you hit either the couple or the carriage, you got an extra dose.

Although I love traditions I'm glad the getaways are now about having fun and getting creative!!
Want to steer away from the stretch limo? Go out in style with some of these unique getaways...

Store-N-Style

While I attended License to Wed with Ivy Robinson back in February she told me about one of her friends Jennifer, she is an artist who makes wall art from invitations. I thought it was such a unique idea! I just found her card today and got on her site again and wanted to share it with you.

Jennifer applies the mementos of your life to a blank canvas and creates a completely unique work of art inspired by your important life moments.

Wedding invitations, anniversary cards, birth announcements- these are the things people often save in a box, out of sight and unable to be enjoyed. Jennifer will transform these and other tangible memories into striking art that can be hung on the wall and cherished day after day.
"My only real goal is to be known for helping others make their most spectacular moments last forever."

Salon Loft Teaser

I had the amazing opportunity to plan the 5th annual Salon Loft owners party. It ended up being such a great event! The location this year was at the new Cantina bar on Park Street. The 400 guests in attendance experienced amazing food, plenty of margaritas, entertainment by HooDooSoul as well as a flame throwing act. Enjoy a sneak peak of photos from the event from the amazing Ashley Henry from Henry Photography. Be sure to keep an eye out in next months CMH magazine for more photos as well as more photos on the blog.

Carrie Underwood Wedding

I'm a huge country music fan! One of my favorite artists is Carrie Underwood. Ever since I saw her amazing engagement ring I have been anxiously waiting for her wedding day so that I can see pictures!! (yes, I am that lame) Well today is that day, People magazine on newsstands today has all the fabulous details and photos in a six page spread.

Not that her Johnathon Arndt ring isn't enough
but he also designed her a 40 carot diamond tiara for the wedding.

The $500,000 wedding took place in front of 250 guests at
the Ritz Carlton Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro, Georgia
Her dog Ace walked down the aisle as well in a pink rhinestone tux.

Mr. & Mrs. Fisher went to Bora Bora for their honeymoon.

I wish I could show you pictures from the magazine but unfortunately they aren't online yet.
Looks like you'll have to go pick up a copy to get your fix : )

Custom Stamps

I remember waiting in line at the post office for 25 minutes waiting to get my stamps for my wedding. Once it was my turn I found out my choices were a cracked liberty bell and two old fashion gold bands. I thought really, these are my choices? They did have a cute wedding cake but that was the .61 cent stamp and I only needed .44 My point is you pay all this money to have an invitation you love and you shouldn't have to slap an ugly stamp on the cover. At usps.com you can create your own stamp! Use your favorite picture of you and your fiance, a custom logo of your initials, or your one of your engagement photos!

20 stamps per sheet. Small $17.95, medium $18.95, and large $19.95

It looks like Christian Louboutin isn't the only designer who can put out a glittery pump that makes my heart beat a little faster. Miu Miu has done it and done it well.

Gift giving

A fun part of being the bride is coming home from your honeymoon to a sea of gifts in your house. It took hours for my husband and I to open all our gifts. However, as the bride and groom you are required to buy some gifts of your own. Your bridal party, your shower hostess', and most likely your parents all deserve a little thank you in the form of a gift. Here are some popular choices....

Monogram jewelry pouch $14.95

Initial Totes $19.90

Wine charms $38.00 http://www.etsy.com/

Jewelry for the wedding

These aprons are so cute!! They range from $29-$45

I am a big fan of themes and gift baskets. Get creative and make something unique.

A flower kit is cute, simple, and inexpensive.

The traditional bath basket is always good.
If you want to make something different try a beauty basket
ex: the lip gloss you want them to wear at the wedding, a mini bottle of perfume, mini hairspray, a fashionable pocket mirror, oil blotters, face mask, the possibilies are endless.

My favorite for parents.
